A new meeting hall building for the Religious Society of Friends in Eugene housed in a former warehouse. The space was designed to be clear and organized, while feeling warm and inviting. The design emphasized the industrial architectural characteristics of the space as well as defining new spaces within the open shell. The importance of the meeting hall space is highlighted with a change in height and materiality. The meeting hall is shared with a queer community center, playing off the inclusive nature of the Friends’ philosophy. It is a safe, inclusive, and energetic space. The complex is meant to create an equality-driven community hub in a growing area of downtown Eugene.
